LODGE AMENITIES: All located very close to your accommodations and are always available for your enjoyment. Special requests may also be made as to personalize your experience even further.

Pool: located on your way from our Chalets to the Boma, adjacent to the Lapa. It is the perfect spot to relax after an active day out on the Ranch or to just cool down from the hot African sun. Being next to the Lapa also allows parents to keep an eye on their kids from the comfort of the Lounge area inside.

Boma: The heart & soul of your experience. It is here around a big burning bonfire where stories are told, drinks are had and memories forged. The Boma is located past the Lapa on one side of the main lodge compound as to not disturb the peace & quiet of those resting in their rooms, yet close enough to everything else you might want to utilize.

Lounge & Bar: The main Lapa is the centre of all activities on the main Lodge compound. Set tables are served delicious meals from our lodge kitchen three times a day or as requested. If it is not the food you are after, the Rhodesian teak bar is the perfect spot to enjoy a cold one while relaxing with beautiful views through our large open paned windows. Our comfortable lounge area is complete with a high-power spotting scope and chess set.

Observation Deck: In the very Northern corner of the secure lodge compound, you will find the observation deck overlooking two sides. This deck is the perfect spot to sit back next to our 250 litre Capetonian wood barrels and enjoy a good glass of wine, available from our exquisite selection of Estate wines.

To the North is the thick African Bush with a clearing where you will see many animals coming in to enjoy some molasses or a sip of water from the watering hole. To the West is our breeding camp where you will be sure to spot animals belonging to fantastic genetic lines.

Wellness Center: Therapeutic and relaxation massages in a safe, comfortable, and relaxing environment which include all ages; children, adults and seniors. The services include a variety of massage techniques that are designed to relieve the pain and stress related to day-to-day living while aiding in the rehabilitation of physical injuries. Treatments are ideal for women & men suffering from tight and sore muscles, digestive disorders, joint pain, cellulite, headache, migraines, stretch marks and spider veins among others – or just those who like to relax. (Prior Booking is necessary)

Gymnasium: Adjacent to the Spa you will find our roofed gym overlooking a clearing in the bushveld where animals often come to visit. Here we have provided all the necessary equipment for those quick stay-in-shape holiday workouts.

Lifestyle Farm Tour: Do your kids know where does the milk and eggs come from, except from Woolworths?  There is a guided tour through our lifestyle farm to bring them into touch with the lifestyle farm as it was before Woolworths.  Here the sheep with its lambs, Jersey the cow and the calves, the pigs and their siblings, the hens and their dens, the horses and many more can be experienced

Self-Catering Facilities: Close to the Boma (where you’ll find the over-size open fireplace) are all the facilities you would need to self-cater. Fridges, freezers, microwave, 2x stoves, plenty of countertops and ample storage space conveniently found in this well-lit space perfect for all occasions.

These facilities are in addition to the kitchenette in each chalet which has a microwave, small fridge/freezer and kettle.

Secure Lodge Area: A secured a massive 1.5 hectare main Lodge compound with clean & neat electrified fencing. This extra security measure ensures the safety of all guests at Berchtesgaden from wild animals and other unwanted risks, giving everyone peace of mind to enjoy themselves in a large open area with most of the amenities close together. For further convenience, you will be able to quickly enter and exit through the motorised main gate onto the rest of the Ranch at any time. Further, all guests have 24/7 access to the observation deck, built to allow an utterly fence-less view of the surroundings.

Shaded Parking: Available for your car close to our Chalets & main Lodge.

Bush Camp (N/A when Hunting) With your Boswa or caravan, you need to be self-sustainable in all aspects – shower and toilet, hot water, batteries and solar panels, but no generators & other noisy machinery.

You will have a reservoir with fresh water to top up yours, a braai area and plenty of wood. Then, of course, also the beauty of mother nature and what she has to offer.  Why drive 1000’s of kilometres to Botswana if you can have the same and more on your doorstep.

During your visit, the only means of transport will be by foot. You are welcome to converse with the passing animals in our pristine Waterberg Eden.  Bring the long lenses with and enjoy the thatched viewing deck at the dam.  Please remember, you are now in the undeveloped African Bush. This Bushveld Savannah is home to the Bushbaby, Kudu, Nyala, Impala, Blue wildebeest, Giraffe, Zebra, Gemsbok, Sable, Leopard, Hyena, Caracal, Civet, Jackal, Warthog, Bush Pig and many more. Treat their home as if it is your own.

We, the owners of Berchtesgaden, also enjoy camping Safaris & getaways. As such, we understand how special the nights and conversation around the fire becomes; keep in mind, the louder you are, the more the game will distance themselves.

Should you need anything, the lodge is nearby. This facility is available only outside of the hunting season OR when there is no hunting on the property as it is in the centre of the bush/hunting area.

LUXURY SAFARI TENT: To travel back in time, you do not need a time machine. You simply need to drive two hours north of Pretoria where you will find Berchtesgaden in old Africa with our classic Safari Style tent camp.

Our new luxury tent camp on the edge of the lodge’s boundaries. Here you will feel one with the bush and feel like you are waking up next to the wild game every morning. “Relaxation” does not begin to describe the feeling of an old-school tent Safari experience.
