Trails End Bike Hotel, Mountain Bike and Trail Running Accommodation is situated in Grabouw and not just Africa’s first bike hotel, it’s also the perfect base to relax, have fun and explore all the delights the Overberg has to offer. Whether you’re hungry to catch some air on our scenic trails, find your next adventure, sample some of the country’s finest beverages or unwind after a week wrapped up in the city life.
OUR ACCOMMODATION: Includes a selection of 16 rooms.
Our ground floor rooms (1 – 8) offer versatile layouts perfect for larger travel parties, offering shared facilities with separate men’s and ladies’ bathrooms, including a wheel-chair friendly unit.
Our upstairs mezzanine level (rooms 9-16) offer more conventional layouts of double, family and team rooms – all of which have en-suite bathrooms and air conditioning.
Cot facilities are available on request for children under the age of 2. The rooms vary in price, layout & number of beds available.
We like to refer to Trail’s End as a community hub for outdoor enthusiasts, mountain bikers, trail runners and families looking to enjoy some quality time in and amongst nature. We offer Wi-Fi, secure parking and safe, indoor bike storage.
FUN FOR THE FAMILY: Kids can enjoy our pool, mini pump track & fun climbing wall! We have small bikes with training wheels. We have a slackline, table tennis and a kiddies’ corner with puzzles & games to keep them busy. We can arrange special requests eg pony rides & child care.
POOL: Our 20 meter two-lane pool accommodates swimmers & professional swimmers. We have a resident swim coach to enhance training. Be sure to enjoy open water swimming at the local Country Club dam.
WELLNESS CENTRE: Enjoy our Yoga and Pilates studio. Classes are held by professional instructors. Our in-house chiropractor and sports physio are on hand to assist with any aches or pains you might have. We have a beauty therapist on-site should you be in need of a sports massage or a much-deserved pamper after those long adventures out on the trails!
RELAXATION AREAS: We have a cozy book lounge stocked by local bookshop Liberty Books – perfect for snuggling up to the fireplace on those chilly winter days.
For those scorchers we have a shady deck area and fire pit outside by the pool, which is the best place to kick back, chill-ax and enjoy local wines or craft beer!
RESTAURANT: We provide healthy, performance enhancing foods for all. Where possible, all of our ingredients are locally and sustainably sourced. We offer breakfast and dinner by request only.
Reboot with one of our power smoothies or a freshly roasted African coffee served at the coffee bar!
BIKE TRAINING AREA: Try our Declan O’Malley Flow Trail! It includes drop offs, switchbacks and bridges for you to practice on. Get even more pumped on our professionally designed mini pump track too!
Not only is it fantastic fun but it’s also a wonderful, safe environment to harness the skills needed for mountain biking before exploring the local trails.
We offer a variety of training clinics throughout the year, hosted by top-class mountain bikers to ensure you’re practicing and continuing to make progress.
TRAILS: We have some of the country’s top mountain biking trails right on our doorstep. Local wine farms, OAK VALLEY and PAUL CLUVER have excellent trails which often feature in the CAPE EPIC and WINES2WHALES routes.
There are also popular trails nearby at LEBANON and start of the WINES2WHALES A-Z section is just a short 10 minute ride away. If cycling isn’t for you, there are plenty of trails to explore on foot and if you are willing to take a short drive the KOGELBERG NATURE RESERVE is worth a visit.
It goes without saying, whether running or hiking, you will be blown away by the spectacular views and experiences you can have in nature.
WEDDINGS & EVENTS: We can pretty much host any special occasion. Hiring the venue means you (and 60 guests) get to make use of the entire hotel for an overnight stay.
