Over an hour from Johannesburg and 40 minutes from Pretoria in the Northwest Province hides an exquisite retreat called Thaba Khaya Lodge.

This beautiful lodge is part of Sable Ranch, a Private Game Reserve and proclaimed Natural Heritage site which is situated in a malaria free area.

With an abundance of game spread out over 2500 hectares and a symphony of migratory birds, we offer an interactive guided experience where our highly qualified field guide educates guest on the natural surrounding and wildlife.

Thaba Khaya Lodge means ‘house on a rock”, which is an accurate description as the lodge sits on top of a granite outcrop. The elevated bar and pool deck offer breathtaking views of the surrounding hills, as well as a watering hole where animals often come to drink.

Guests can unwind in a comfortable lounge area or on decks, which create relaxed social settings. Whether you want to unwind by the pool and listen to the wide variety of birds.

3 exquisite standard luxury suites that are part of the original farmhouse. A further 3 luxury suites are offered just off the main farmhouse with an additional private outside veranda where guests can privately relax, take in the sunshine and witness magnificent sunrises and sunsets.

All suites offer spacious bedrooms and bathrooms and are complimented with twin showers and twin vanities to ensure your comfort.

Thaba Khaya Lodge furthermore offers a self-catering Cottage which is perfect for weekend getaways and holidays.

The majestic master bedroom is within meters from the watering hole, providing a superb view of the wildlife that often come to drink.
