Nestled on the slopes of the Sabie River valley in Hazyview, Tanamera Lodge is an idyllic stayover just a 30-minute drive from the Kruger National Park’s Phabeni Gate. Seven thatched chalets provide the perfect retreat close to South Africa’s signature Big 5 reserve as well as other attractions such as God’s Window, the Blyde River Canyon and the historic mining town of Pilgrim’s Rest.

Unwind on your chalet’s furnished verandah while soaking up the views of the surrounding lowveld forest and listening to the tranquil sound of the river flowing below. Birding from the lodge is spectacular, with a host of different resident and migrant species to be seen from the deck, and in the forested area around the beautifully appointed chalets.

A refreshing dip in your private plunge pool provides glorious valley views while relaxing around the fireplace in your sitting room is the perfect antidote for a chilly winter’s night.

The honeymoon chalets have their own sitting rooms and dining areas for complete romantic privacy. The en suite bathrooms are equipped with large stone bathtubs, double vanities and double waterfall showers. The adjoining verandahs feature private plunge pools as well as outside showers with magnificent valley views.

Dining – Restaurant serves a continental breakfast in the elegantly appointed dining room or outside on the deck. For dinner, the chef presents a South African-inspired menu, with options including fresh fish, ostrich steaks, flavoursome lamb curry and seasonal vegetables. Celebrate a special occasion with a private in-suite dinner paired with your selection of tipple from the extensive wine list.

Facilities – lodge features a dining room with a wood-burning stone fireplace and lounge area as well as a bar, from where you step down onto the main deck. This area is equipped with an infinity pool offering spectacular views of the Sabie River Valley. There is Wi-Fi In the main lodge area.

Activities in the area – include abseiling, white-water rafting, hot-air ballooning, microlighting, elephant encounters, hiking, birding, game drives and horseback safaris.
