Home of the Mushroom Rock, St Fort Country House is a sandstone homestead which offers the finest in quality farm accommodation with six en-suite luxury bedrooms and the option of breakfast or self catering.

St Fort Farmhouse has been lovingly restored into a luxurious and comfortable Guesthouse with 6 en-suite bedrooms, inviting one back to a bygone era that reflects the grandeur of pressed ceilings and wooden floors.

The Guesthouse is divided into 2 units, the Main House and the Annex. An inter-leading dining room joins the 2 units. The Cottage is free-standing and is situated to the West of the house. This cosy cottage sleeps two and has a lovely view overlooking the dam.

Antique furniture, a spacious kitchen with under-floor heating, and a lounge with log fire, are what make this holiday destination truly unique in this area. Some families prefer to book the whole house for their enjoyment.

St Fort Country House can be booked as separate units, or as one unit for big groups consisting of 10-12 people:

The Main House has 3 en-suite bedrooms, a large kitchen, a spacious lounge with a log fireplace, and a dining room. A veranda overlooks the country garden with the Mushroom Rock in the background. The Annex has 2 en-suite bedrooms, a kitchenette, a cozy lounge with a log fireplace, and a veranda nestled in the country garden. The Garden Cottage sleeps two people and has a kitchenette and a log fireplace. The bathroom has a shower and bath.

All the rooms have extra-length king-size beds and are equipped with floor fans in summer, and electric blankets plus heaters in winter.

The Main House – The Main House has always been the heart of St Fort Farm.

One can enjoy a cup of coffee or sip on a Gin and Tonic on the picturesque veranda while enjoying a view of the Mushroom Rock and the country garden.

A big lounge with a log fireplace and a Smart TV with Netflix is the perfect place to snuggle up and enjoy a movie or a good book.

The Main House has 3 en-suite bedrooms (Rooms 1, 2, and 3). Room 1 has a log fireplace and is big enough to fit two extra mattresses. It has a bath and shower. Rooms 2 and 3 have showers. Room 2 can fit in an extra mattress.

The Annex – The Annex has two en-suite bedrooms (Rooms 4 & 5) with showers. This cosy unit has a fully equipped kitchenette, a lounge with a log fireplace, and Smart TV with Netflix.

It also has a veranda nestled in the country garden and is the best spot to watch the sun go down.

The Cottage – Our quaint freestanding Garden Cottage lies on the west side of the guesthouse. This studio cottage has a log fireplace and a bath in the bathroom.

A Smart TV with Netflix can be viewed from the bed or snuggled up in a cosy chair next to the log fireplace. The fully equipped kitchenette is ideal for the self-caterer.

Hiking Trails

St Fort Farm, the home of the Mushroom Rock, is situated in the foothills of the Maluti Mountains that hug the Lesotho border. The Clarens Sandstone Formation creates a landscape littered with overhang caves, ravines, nooks and crannies, and hidden valleys begging to be discovered.

St Fort Farm offers 4 expertly laid out hiking trails that can be enjoyed by young and old, experienced and adventurous hikers, and by those who are just learning to discover the joys of hiking. All these trails take you through differing landscapes, from breathtaking mountain views and overhang caves, to river walks with numerous picnic spots, forest ambles, and boulder hopping in and along gorges.
