Welcome to Saladero Ecolodge, far away from the hustle and bustle, surrounded by protected primary rainforest, your heart will be warmed by the beauty of life.
We are a Beachfront Eco Lodge with Primary Rainforest. Imagine starting each day with the calm crystal clear waters of the Golfo Dulce as your vista and the calls of howler monkeys and toucans as your alarm clock, end each day watching the spectacular crimson sunset over the Osa Peninsula accompanied by a chorus of clink frogs.
Comfortable cabins, great food and friendly staff await you. With 1/2 mile of beachfront on the calm Golfo Dulce, 32 acres of tropical gardens and 363 acres of lowland tropical primary rainforest there is something for everyone.
The Rooms – All our cabins and furniture have been lovingly built or restored. From a comfortable and spacious beach house to our glamping cabins, we offer a wide selection to suit every budget.
Our lodge is not suitable for children under 8 years old. Families with children from 8 years on can book the Beach House, the Tree House or the Mariposa House.
All pricing is per person per day. For the cabins this includes the boat transportation from and back to either Puerto Jimenez or Golfito, your accommodation, 3 delicious meals a day (check out our Sample Menu), afternoon snack, natural juices (from the farm), unlimited use of our nature trails, kayaks, stand up boards, snorkeling and fishing equipment.
All accommodations are screened and have direct beachfront access and view. Our electric is provided by solar charged batteries and mini-hydro electrical power. Hot water for showers is mainly from passive heating systems.
The Restaurant – Whenever available, fresh juices, herbs, root vegetables, and fruits are harvested from our gardens at Saladero. These include coconut, bananas, plantains, pineapples, papaya, guananaba, culantro, ginger, tumeric, yucca, araza, lemongrass, oranges, lemons and limes.
Meals are prepared from scratch, Our set menu varies from a mixture of local Costa Rican to a fusion of international favourites. To sum it up: We offer a vegetarian (or vegan if desired) menu with additional locally caught and regulated fish but no meat products.
Food provided is locally purchased with a large portion of the fruit and vegetables grown on site & Our drinking water comes from fresh mountain springs.
Activities: Hike our 3 nature trails in the primary rainforest of Piedras Blancas National Park. Birdwatching is spectacular with 4 different and adjacent eco systems. Getting Here: If you are flying, we will meet you at the airport in either Puerto Jimenez (preferred) or Golfito, take a taxi to the public dock and then our boat to Saladero Eco Lodge.
If you are driving you can leave your car in town at a secure area and we will meet you at the public dock or at the hotel and then take our boat to Saladero Eco Lodge.
If you are coming from Drake Bay or Chackarita by bus we can pick you at Playa Blanca beach. This can save you (and us) hours of travel time. Get off the bus in La Palma and take a taxi to Playa Blanca.
All boat transfers are done from 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Our normal boat pick up time in Puerto Jimenez or Golfito is 9:00 – 9:30 a.m. and when leaving Saladero it is by 8:30 a.m.
