We also have ready access to some truly astounding wildlife in season, including whalesharks and humpback whales. The area also has an incredible reef and a wealth of marine life. This is reflected in Mafia’s Marine Park in the Chole Bay area; the largest marine protected area in East Africa.
Inside the rooms – The open-tent bandas are located close to the ocean. Locally crafted, each has a balcony, a seating area and a private bathroom. The beds are draped with mosquito nets.
Food and drink – A buffet breakfast is served every morning. The restaurant serves local Swahili dishes with an International touch. There is also a rooftop bar.
Property highlights- Massages can be arranged for a surcharge. An array of activities can be enjoyed on site or in the surroundings, including fishing and diving. Staff at Ras Mbisi Lodge can arrange excursions around the island.
The location – Mafia Airport is a 40-minute flight away from Dar es Salaam.
