Located in the oldest part of Jerez’s Islamic city, this former merchant’s house dates mostly from 1865, with other aspects of the house originating several centuries earlier.

La Fonda Barranco is located in the province of Cadiz in Andalucia, southwestern Spain. It is midway between Grazalema´s mountain ranges and the Atlantic Ocean. Jerez has his own Airport just a few minutes from the city center and it is only one hour driving from Seville or Gibraltar´s Airports. Being Malaga´s one just 2,15 hours away by car.
Jerez is the largest city in the province and the fifth largest one in Andalusia, is also, in terms of land area, the largest municipality in the province, and its sprawling outlying areas are a fertile zone for agriculture. The name Jerez goes back to the Phoenician Xera, Sèrès, later Romanized under the name of Ceret; The current Castilian name came by way of the Arabic name شريش Sherish. In former times, during the Muslim occupation of Iberia, it was called Xerez or Xeres. The name of the famous fortified wine, sherry, which originated here represents an adaptation of the city’s Arabic name, which is pronounced Sherish. Frontera refers to a Spanish frontier, located on the border between the Moorish and Christian regions of Spain. Over two centuries later, after the Castilian conquest of Granada in 1492, Xerez definitely lost its status as a frontier city, but did not lose that designation.
Jerez de la Frontera and the rest of the Cádiz metropolitan area has a Subtropical–Mediterranean climate with oceanic influences, characterized by very mild and wet winters and long warm to hot and dry summers. The average annual temperature is 24 °C (75 °F) during the day and 12 °C (54 °F) at night, where it enjoys over three hundred days of sunshine a year.
There are many monuments and attractions to see and visit while you are in Jerez including the Alcazar, a Moorish fortress dating to the 11th century,The Cathedral, many old churches all over the ols town like San Miguel (15th century), San Dionisio (13th century) or Santa María La Real (12th century) the only mosque that survived after the reconquest of the city.
