Accommodation:
El Toucan: (Private “Honeymoon” Cabin with Hot Tub) The #1 choice of our guests! This private cabin is perfect for honeymooners, couples or guests who enjoy the view and sound of the nearby river. Gently swing in the hammock on your shaded veranda, then as the sun sets, relax in your own private hot tub under the flicker of candles.
La Mariposa: (Private River Cabin) This private cabin is perfectly positioned beside the natural swimming pool and gushing river, with a fireplace on the porch
El Commisario: (Largest Private House) A very large, private home with views of our gardens. It has 3 1/2 rooms and 3 bathrooms a spacious living room with fireplace, couch, rocking chairs, hammocks, and a private wood fired hot tub* (optional).
El Paso Fino: (Private House on the Hill) Private house, which sleeps up to 6 or 7 (upon request) people, is situated on the top of the hill overlooking the lodge & river, it is perfect for groups, or family’s, 3 double beds, a private bathroom & a porch with wooden table & hammock.
El Colibri: (Private Cabin behind the Lodge) private cabin just steps from the main lodge, with easy access to the hot tub, dining & kitchen area. A comfortable queen bed and your own private fireplace add to the cozy atmosphere inside the cabin. large private bathroom, covered porch/sitting area with rocking chairs, table, hammock and fire place overlooking the garden.
La Casona(Rooms at the Main Lodge) Situated in the main building, this is perfect for families, groups& couples. Sleeps up to 11 guests with two shared bathrooms. In the center of the lodge is a sitting area with a small library. A great area for family card games & reading
Los Laureles (Overlooking the Gardens) A large house with porch across from the garden and the main lodge with 3 separate bedrooms and 3 private bathrooms.
Heliconias Our newest cabin, centrally located with a beautiful forest and river view, with a fireplace on the porch. The cabin has 1 king size bed, 1 single and another single can be added.

Phone & Internet – To enhance our stress-free and peaceful environment, we do not offer cell phone or Internet service in the cabins. We do have a designated area with fast WIFI (great for Zoom, Facetime etc). If you do need the internet in your room, please let us know and we can give you a portable router.
Lit by Candlelight (ELECTRICITY) – Each evening the main Lodge and cabins are aglow with candles. There is electricity in the cabins and lodge (outlets and small lights). We do recommend you bring a flashlight.
Dining: 3 extraordinary typical Costa Rican farm to table meals per day, cooked on our wood burning stove and barbecue grill. We serve rice and beans, fresh vegetable(s), a salad and fish, chicken, beef or pork. Coffee, tea or fresh homemade juice is always available.
Yoga Platform & Training : A Couple of months a year we offer live yoga classes at La Carolina Lodge. Karien Harwell, a certified & experienced yoga teacher will guide you through the practice of yoga, adjust each class to your level and will help you find your inner peace of relaxation all while surrounded by the jungle and flowing river. If no classes offered, you are welcome to practice on your own. The platform offers mats, blocks and straps.
Karien Harwell owns La Carolina Lodge with her husband Bill. Besides running the lodge she is a Dedicated and motivated Personal Trainer and Spinning instructor who is passionate to help others to reach their health and fitness goals by offering well rounded and fun exercise classes.
Massage and Spa at the river: An ideal spot for pampering after long drives, hiking or horseback adventures and also for some well deserved relaxation, enjoy deep tissue, relaxation massages and facials while listening to the soothing sounds and views of the flowing river.
