Jaci’s Tree Lodge & Jaci’s Safari Lodge in the malaria free Madikwe Game Reserve promises an authentic, friendly and welcoming African safari with exceptional and varied game viewing – featuring the Big Five as well as Wild Dog, Spotted & Brown Hyena, both Black and White Rhino, Giraffe, Red Harebeest and many more species as well as over 340 species of birds – a wildlife paradise.

Jaci’s Tree Lodge offers eight luxurious “tree houses” perched high above the ground on wooden stilts. The rooms are connected by wooden walkways to the main lodge and all have views through the canopy of the riverine forest, offering glimpses of the Marico River below. Each “tree house” has an outdoor “jungle shower”, in addition to an open plan bath – big enough for 2 to enjoy together and soak in the surrounding atmosphere.
LOCATION – The 75 000ha Madikwe Game Reserve lies in the extreme north-west corner of South Africa’s North West province.
Jaci’s Lodges are an easy four-hour drive from OR Tambo International Airport, or only two hours from Gaborone. Whether you fly directly to Jaci’s Lodges on one of the daily scheduled from Johannesburg to Madikwe or from Sabi Sand or decide to do a self-drive, Jaci’s Lodges is easily accessible by both road and air.
We can arrange a private road transfer, a charter flight OR one can simply take the self-drive option.

GAME VIEWING
Twice-daily safari game drives into the 75 000-hectare Madikwe Game Reserve are the main drawcard at Jaci’s Lodges. Safari game drives take place when the likelihood of sightings is at its highest – early morning and late afternoon. The morning drive leaves after morning wake up calls with the option of toast & coffee around the fire in the main lodge before departure, while the lafternoon drive usually departs around 3pm to 3.30pm, after high tea – depending on the season. Each game drive lasts for three hours.

WALKING SAFARIS: Specialised guided walking safaris in Madikwe. With our walking-trails-qualified guides you can enjoy a three- to four-hour walk through the Madikwe bushveld. We recommend a reasonable level of fitness as walks could vary between 5km and 10km over the three to four hours. You walk as fast as the slowest person in the group, so don’t worry about having to keep up with your guide. PHOTGRAPHIC SAFARIS: Specialised photographic safaris with renowned wildlife photographers who provide professional tuition and wildlife photographic tips.
These safaris cater for all levels of photographer on daily photographic safaris at Jaci’s Lodges.

BIRDING SAFARIS: Specialised birding safaris – learn to identify birds by sound, habitat and sight with professional and passionate birding-specialist guides.

ELECTRICITY AND WATER: We have Eskom power and back-up generators for emergencies. Water is pumped directly from the Marico River and filtered at our filtration plant. We supply jugs of iced water in each room.

DIRECTIONS FROM ORT – JACI’S
Directions from ORT/JHB/Pretoria/Sun City to Jaci’s Safari Lodge & Jaci’s Tree Lodge
Do not use gps as you will get to dead ends – it takes you on roads that no longer exist – we recommend you simply follow the directions below:
Approx a 3-½ hr drive to the Lodge, refuel at Sun Village, as there is no fuel available inside the Reserve.
After leaving the airport, watch out for the sign saying R21 PRETORIA / KEMPTON PARK.
It is on the left, and the turning is soon after leaving the Airport, so keep a sharp lookout. Follow the signs to Pretoria and N1 POLOKWANE. After approx. 36 kms you will see big signs over the highway you need to follow the direction N1 POLOKWANE turn onto this highway (you are now travelling in a northerly direction) and go for quite a while. You will see signs for a toll road called Bakwenya Platinum Highway N4 Rustenberg. Take this toll road. Once on the N4 continue in the Rustenberg direction – take exit #225 which is the R556 Sun City/Majakaneng. Turn right at the top of the off ramp to Sun City and continue straight to Sun City (approx 73 kms to Sun City from this off ramp). (It is advisable to fill up with fuel at the Sun Village, just after the Sun City entrance on the right.)
After passing Sun City on the right, continue straight until you reach a four-way junction. Turn right to DERDEPOORT. Follow the road for approx. 8 kms, and turn left at the sign saying BAPONG. Continue straight along this road (ignoring ALL signs saying Madikwe/Modikwe etc.), after passing through MABESKRAAL you will come to a 4 way stop – turn right to DERDEPOORT after about 25kms the tar road ends and becomes gravel/dirt, the Dwarsberg Liquor Store is on your left, continue straight along the gravel road towards MOLATEDI Village (do not take the next Derdepoort turning to the right, continue straight), pass through the Molatedi village, over the Marico River and straight to the MOLATEDI GATE entrance into the Park From here, just follow the signs to Jaci’s Lodges.
