Perched at the water’s edge, the Upper Deck self-catering accommodation boasts a panoramic vista of Cape Town’s famous mountains and sea from its top-floor vantage point.
Sleeping six people in three comfortable bedrooms, the apartment features a fully equipped kitchen, modern bathroom with bathtub and shower and an open-plan living area opening onto a spacious and sunny north-facing deck.
Catch the sunrise over the ocean, watch whales from the deck in the winter months and dolphins and seals year-round in the bay below, or take in the superb views over sundowners.
A short meander along the Jaeger Walk, just below the apartment, will lead you past crystal clear rock pools to Fish Hoek’s long, white-sand beach. One of the safest on the False Bay coast, a shark-net makes it particularly ideal for swimming, snorkelling and body surfing.
Location: The Upper Deck’s central location on the Cape Peninsula means that all of Cape Town’s main attractions are within a 35-minute scenic drive, including the Table Mountain Cable Way, V&A Waterfront, the Two Oceans Aquarium, Robben Island, Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens, Chapman’s Peak, the Cape of Good Hope (Cape Point), Boulder’s Beach penguin colony and the Constantia winelands.
Our self-catering apartment sleeps six people:
A double bedroom with a queen-sized bed opens onto the deck above the sea and rocky shore below, with a beautiful view of the mountain across the bay from your bed!
A large second bedroom with two single beds and a fold-out sleeper couch faces the sandstone cliffs and indigenous coastal fynbos of Elsie’s Peak, which offers wonderful walks directly from your front door.
A third bedroom with a single bed looks out across False Bay toward the wide open ocean and wheeling seabirds.
The dining and living area (with large flat-screen TV) also opens onto the deck, with uninterrupted views northwards across the bay to the mountains above Kalk Bay, and eastwards to Cape Hangklip on the far side of False Bay. During autumn and winter the whales often come so close inshore you can watch them from the comfort of your deckchair!
A full modern bathroom with luxurious bathtub and spacious shower, a separate guest toilet and a fully-equipped kitchen complete the living space. Kitchen facilities include a glass hob, full-sized oven, microwave, dishwasher, washing machine/drier and electric coffee percolator. A small gas-powered Weber griddle is perfect for barbecues on the sheltered deck.
