Tucked away in one of the few unspoiled stretches of natural forest and coastline, on the eastern side of the Machangulo Nature Reserve, lies Loggerhead Lodge.

The lodge boasts 6 ensuite bedrooms – all with magnificent sea views – and offers privacy and luxury to the discerning traveler. Machangulo, with its 21 kilometers of pristine beaches, is one of the few places on earth where the loggerhead turtles come to nest.

The lodge also has a private game room with various board games, darts and billiards, or you can lounge next to the lodge’s private pool enjoying a drink from the fully stocked bar while enjoying glorious beach views.
All rooms are on a full-board basis. Breakfast, light lunch, snacks, and dinner are included in the room price. Meals can be served privately in your room or enjoyed in one of the many spaces offered by the main building. There is a large indoor dining room as well as dining space on the deck with exquisite views of the beach and dunes.

OUR ROOMS – Stay in absolute luxury in the heart of untamed Africa. Each ensuite private room has a double bed and offers exquisite views of the Indian Ocean.

ROOM 2 (STANDARD ROOM) – Our standard rooms are everything but standard. As with all the other rooms it offers unspoiled sea views and private access. The bathroom has a shower with doors that open to enjoy the view.

ROOM 3 (STANDARD ROOM) – Sporting similar features as ROOM 2, ROOM 3 and 2 would be ideal for a family or a group of friends as they are in close proximity to each other. The room’s large deck could be shared, but it still offers enough privacy.

ROOM 4 (BEACH BUNGALOW) – Nestled in natural bush mere feet away from the beach, this room has all the features of the standard rooms, with the additional privacy of the surrounding bush.

ROOM 5 (BEACH BURROW) – Our standard rooms are everything but standard. As with all the other rooms, it has unspoilt sea views and private access. The bathroom has a shower with doors that open to enjoy the view.

ROOM 6 (LOVER’S LAIR) – Our standard rooms are everything but standard. As with all the other rooms, it has unspoilt sea views and private access. The bathroom has a shower with doors that open to enjoy the view.

ROOM 1 (HONEYMOON HIDEAWAY) – This room also doubles as the honeymoon suite and is one of the most private at the lodge. The bathroom has a deep, luxurious tub and large folding doors opens up unto a private deck with an outdoor shower.

Self-catering is only permitted if the lodge is booked out in its entirety. Please enquire about special rates for group bookings and self-catering options. A cash bar is available to all guests

THINGS TO DO IN THE AREA – EXPLORE ALL THERE IS TO OFFER – The lodge offers activities like snorkeling, swimming, surfing, and fishing but at other nearby activity centres, you can also enjoy kayaking, kite-surfing and deep-sea fishing.

UNSPOILT BEACHES – Twenty minutes south of Maputo by light aircraft (landing at Machangulo’s own private airfield), fifteen minutes by helicopter, one hour by boat or five hours by car through the Maputo Special Reserve, this untamed reserve offers privacy and security in harmony with nature and the delicate ecosystem that thrives here.

GETTING HERE – Loggerhead Lodge is a short boat ride (1 hour) from Maputo harbor, or you can self-drive through Machangulo Private Nature Reserve. Please note that 4×4 vehicles are a must! Contact us to enquire about chartered flights to the Machangulo private airfield.
