‘Hodi Hodi’ is the traditional Swahili greeting when arriving as a guest at the house of a friend. The answer is always Welcome – ‘Karibu’.
HODI HODI is also a new property on the stunning Matemwe Beach in Zanzibar – 7 rooms in 3 separate beach houses offer combinations of single, double, twin, family and group accommodation for up to 18 people.
Privacy as well as exclusivity allow HODI HODI to be a romantic hideaway, an ideal après-safari wind-down, an extended family celebration gathering-spot, or a fun venue for a tailor-made private beach party.
All rooms are built in a simple natural style only 6 metres from the sand, taking advantage of sea breezes and views. There is no a/c, the wind blows softly most of the time and the temperature is usually comfortably in the 20s (July – October) or 30’s (December to April).
The atmosphere is easy-going : An honesty bar, serve-yourself hot beverages, cocktail hour, free WIFI and a barbeque for guests’ use.
A plunge pool with a coconut island suits adults and children. The set food menu changes daily so is local and fresh, combining traditional and international modern cuisine. Dining is alfresco.
Mostly though, Hodi Hodi is about slowing down: enjoy leisurely days and a good night’s sleep.

HODI HODI Beach Houses are on the main Zanzibar island, and about 45 minutes drive from the airport, through small villages and towns, until you get to the fabulous east coast and famous Matemwe beach.
We will arrange for you to be collected and brought straight here.

Zanzibar is a legendary archipelago in the Indian Ocean, off the coast of Tanzania.
The beach is 10kms long and you can walk an hour in either direction – perfect for beachcombers and sun-worshippers. There are a few small restaurants and bars to visit but this beach is mostly an unspoiled tropical paradise.
It’s worth spending a day in the marvellously historic Stone Town sight-seeing or souvenir shopping as well, and we can advise you on where to go and what to do. Most people who come here also spend a day diving or snorkelling on Mnemba Island (a marine conservation area on our north horizon). Other things to do:
• Sand bank and dolphin excursion (Beach picnic and snorkelling)
• Deep sea fishing (fully equipped boat available, 20 minutes’ drive away)
• Kite Surfing (25 minutes beach walk, depending on monsoon winds)
• Quad bikes (see landscape up close with a half day trip)
• Golf or Horse Riding (links course and stables 30 minutes’ drive away)
• Bicycle rental ($10 for the day to ride the beach)
• Local ‘ngalawa’ (wooden dug-out sail boat) sailing
• Spice Tour (visit small spice farms and learn about traditional remedies)
• Village Tour (our staff will take you to meet their family, visit the school)
