Hale ‘Ohu Bed & Breakfast is located on the historic Lyman summer home property that was established in 1886. Our rainforest retreat is centrally located in Volcano Village and just five minutes from Hawai’i Volcanoes National Park’s entrance and the perfect location to explore the east side of Hawai’i.
This adults-only boutique B&B has three rooms with private entrances and includes a tropical continental breakfast with homemade baked breads and fresh fruit. Plus, amenities like daily housekeeping, free high-speed Wi-Fi, free parking and no hidden fees.

Continental Tropical Breakfast – Wake each morning to the tranquil sounds of birds while you enjoy your complimentary homemade tropical breakfast in your room. Breakfast is placed in each room’s refrigerator daily for the following morning, so that guests can enjoy at their leisure in their room or on their patio.
Breakfast Nook – The breakfast nook in each room is stocked with one liter of purified water, coffee and teas. Guests will also find plates, glasses, silverware, a hot water kettle, coffee maker, mini-refrigerator and microwave for your convenience.
Location – Hale ‘Ohu B&B is located only 35-45 minutes from the Hilo International Airport and five minutes to the Hawai’i Volcanoes National Park entrance, which attracts over two million visitors a year. There is plenty of free parking at Hale ‘Ohu B&B.

Plan your Visit! If you are staying for one night or several, there are many ways to experience our high-altitude climate and unique landscape that you will not find anywhere else in Hawai’i. Whether you enjoy hiking, shopping for unique gifts and artwork or taking it easy, staying in Volcano Village has something for everyone. This is a historic time to visit the East side of the Big Island. Kīlauea’s 2018 eruption resulted in a lot of changes.
Suggested length of stay: At least two (2) nights.
Best time to visit: Any time of year. Volcano receives more than 100 inches of rain a year, but that provides us with our wonderful rain forest environment. At an elevation of 4,000 feet (1,220 meters), Volcano enjoys cooler daytime temperatures than Hilo. In the afternoon, mist often rolls in from the slopes of Mauna Loa.
Weather: Temperatures and conditions can be unpredictable, so it is advisable to pack for cold and warm weather. Be sure to check the weather forecast and don’t forget sturdy walking shoes or an umbrella. You might experience several seasons in one day.
