Casa Corcovado Jungle Lodge, tucked away in the trees and cooled by the Pacific Ocean, is a 170-acre private reserve comprising beach and rainforest on the borders of Corcovado National Park.
The reserve was set up by an American naturalist who first came to live in the Osa over thirty-five years ago, and who has been working to conserve and protect the area ever since.
Corcovado National Park is one of the world’s last true wildernesses. There are no roads to the Jungle Lodge, and the only access is by boat. Your adventure begins at our private dock and reception center, ‘La Hacienda’, in the sleepy town of Sierpe.
Here you will be met by the captain and your guide for the 90-minute boat ride. The journey takes you through the largest mangrove wetlands system on Central America’s Pacific coast where you’ll have a good chance of spotting monkeys, crocodiles and plenty of birds.
As we pass through the river mouth and follow the coast, there’s a chance of seeing dolphins, and even whales. Refreshments are served during the trip, and lunch, as well as a complimentary cocktail, will be waiting for you at the lodge. Built in harmony with nature, Casa Corcovado Jungle Lodge provides the ideal base for your in-depth rainforest experience.
Accommodations – Honeymoon Suites, Deluxe Bungalows & Junior Suites
Bar “El Bosque” – The bar is surrounded by virgin rainforest and fruit trees, which attract birds, monkeys and other animals. It’s the perfect place for wildlife-spotting, and for a drink, of course. Non-alcoholic fruit drinks and canned beverages are always available.
“El Solar” Swimming Pool – The larger of Casa Corcovado’s two pools, el Solar, is located near the bar. The shallow end is separated from the deep end, providing a safe area for young swimmers.
There are loungers, and chairs and tables with umbrellas, potted palms and bougainvillea on the flagstone surrounds. And for those who want to be poolside but out of the sun, there’s a tiled-roof rancho where you can also order a light lunch, while enjoying the sounds of the rainforest and the waterfall, inspired by Mexican architect, Luis Barragán.
“Los Vitrales” Restaurant – Enjoy delicious meals in the casual elegance of our jungle dining room, Los Vitrales. Our chefs have created a menu full of style and originality, that combines the best of the traditional classics with locally available, fresh fruit and vegetables.
“The Forest” Swimming Pool – A spring-fed swimming pool hidden away in the forest beside a small stream is available anytime you want to use it. Pool towels are available at the main swimming pool. Enjoy the sound of the jungle, seclusion and a feeling of peace.
Margarita Sunset Point – Join us each evening for a frosty Margarita or just to watch the sunset, a Casa Corcovado tradition. Other cold drinks are available and you’ll have a chance to observe wildlife and at times even spot whales
“Salon Corcovado” Meeting & Lounge Area – Salon Corcovado, our intimate ‘rainforest conference centre’, is a good place for groups to get together. This is also where you will find plenty of information on Casa Corcovado, the tours we offer, and the wildlife in the local area. We have a collection of games here for all ages, as well as a small library.
Tropical Sand Beach – Enjoy beach-combing on our 500m pristine, palm-fringed beach, then take a refreshing shower under a waterfall, or a dip in a shaded pool. Feel free to ask in the office for a ride down to the beach and to arrange a Jungle Taxi pick-up time, or to call for a ride back up the hill by using the radio at the boathouse
