Hotel Description
Experience total freedom in your own bush house in the heart of the Maasai Mara Conservancies. Animals stroll right past the front doors of all three of these private sanctuaries, and you have total freedom to set the pace of your own safari escape.
Acacia House Experience – The large open-air veranda is perfectly positioned to give you a window onto all the action at the busy Ol Chorro waterhole. Leading off from this veranda is an open-plan dining and seating area, complete with an authentic log fire. Beyond are two spacious double en-suite bedrooms and a third attic room, created specifically with children in mind.
To the side of the house, raised above the waterhole, you will find the pool (shared with nearby Mara House) and a barbecue area – the perfect place to dine and relax between safari expeditions and for evening sundowners.
The house comes complete with a full complement of experienced staff members, including a chef, wildlife guide and house manager, to ensure a safari experience that delivers the very best the Mara has to offer.
Meals – Our mouthwatering home-cooked meals use ingredients sourced in Nairobi and from nearby local communities. Flexibility is key in our approach to meals: enjoy breakfast and lunch in camp or take a packed meal with you so that you can extend your game-viewing experience.
Please let us know if you have any special dietary requirements – our camp chefs will be happy to cater for your needs.
Accommodation & Amenities – Acacia House: 1 double room with ensuite bathroom; one attic room and a double room on the ground floor with a shared bathroom. Triple rooms available (one per house)
Children welcome / Fully catered / Swimming pool (shared between Acacia House and Mara House) / Complimentary laundry service / Solar and generator power / Battery-charging facility
Location – Acacia House sits in the secluded Ol Chorro Losoit Valley within the beautiful Lemek Hills, far off the typical tourist trail. This private home is within the 70 000-acre Mara North Conservancy area, from where the Mara Bush Houses team has operated its wilderness expeditions for more than 20 years.
The plains are rich in wildlife, and elephant, zebra and other plains game frequently come to graze on the luscious grass around Acacia House. The Maasai Mara is, of course, famous for its big cats and the Mara North Conservancy is no exception. Lion stalk the plains in search of prey, while the ever-elusive leopard sneaks stealthily in and out of the bushes and cheetah burst into glorious action through the grass.
Activities – Safari is a very personal thing and can be enjoyed in many different ways. At Mara Bush Houses it is our firm belief that any safari expedition should be done on your terms, according to your routine and your time scale.
Game drives – Expert guides take you on twice daily game drives. Watch herds of elephants drink at the waterhole or stay with a pride of lion as the cubs play and fight with one another. Our vehicles are either open game-viewing vehicles, or closed vehicles with big windows, high roofs and hatches that open. All vehicles have power points where you can recharge your devices, and are fitted with fridges to keep your drinks deliciously frosty.
Bush walks – There is little better than exploring and learning about the bush on foot.
Community & cultural visits (at additional cost) – The culture of the natural guardians of this land, the Maasai, is both complex and fascinating. Time spent with the local guides in their home communities is a rich and rewarding experience, often the most memorable moment of a safari here.
