Driving Directions to Blue River Resort & Hot Springs (From Liberia):
To begin, depart Liberia city and proceed north on the Pan-American Highway (Route 1) toward the Nicaraguan border for approximately 25.5 kilometers until reaching the intersection for Quebrada Grande. Turn right onto this road and continue for a total of 32 kilometers to the resort, passing through Quebrada Grande, Dos Rios, and El Gavilán. The resort is located 2 kilometers past El Gavilán; note that the final crucial turn is immediately after you cross the Baily bridge over the Blue River, where you must turn left at the intersection, placing you just 1 kilometer from the hotel.
Be advised that the final 25 kilometers of this journey are on a gravel road. We highly recommend using an SUV or a 4×4 vehicle, as while normal vehicles can travel the route, the ride will be significantly bumpier and take much longer, whereas a high-clearance vehicle ensures optimal comfort and speed.
This drive is a highly scenic route, offering beautiful views of the volcano and the distant Papagayo Gulf as you cross the Continental Divide, providing a unique tour as you transition from the North Pacific region into the Caribbean rainforest mountains; upon arrival, you will enter the true rainforest, surrounded by exuberant flora, fauna, and the beautiful blue rivers.
